2014 = Year of Destiny ;Narendra Modi = Health, strength & Progress for India; Arvind Kejriwal = Health but not Strength or Progress; Rahul = Not Ready Yet

2014

THE YEAR OF DESTINY

FOR INDIA

2013 was the year of discovery of Narendra Modi and Arvind Kejriwal both - on the national Political scene.

Narendra Modi, for the 1st time, campaigned as the BJP's Prime Ministerial Candidate in 4 states - and all of them supported BJP in a Big way. The campaign itself proved Modi as the star campaigner with huge capability to attract people.

Modi was Highly successful in Building Gujarat - despite ALL OBSTACLES placed in his path by the Congress and UPA. All other parties which criticized Modi - were rejected by people in a Big way, and this must be a lesson for them - not to spread lies and canards about People in General, and about hard Working people in particular.

In Delhi, Kejriwal was campaigning for almost 2 years - and came a deserving second. Modi campaigned in Delhi only in the last phase and yet Delhi gave him the first place, a little short of Majority.

With, of all parties, Congress backing the AAP, Arvind has become CM of Delhi - and is quickly redeeming his Electoral Promises.  How long will his Government last is a different thing. But, I wish him to gain strength all over India, displacing Congress everywhere, so that he does not need its support.

But, he must avoid the tendency to seek support of the most communal clerics, while professing his Brand of secularism. Also, some of his partymen have dubious views on J&K, which is not at all Healthy for India. The Good Points in AAP's armoury are - rooting out corruption and Fair prices for electricity , water and other essential commodities. These are needed for India in all states. That said, the weakest point in AAP is its lack of any grand, viable  Plan for the progress of India and employment for all. In fact, Arvind's insistence on reducing electricity charges by 50% can deter all further investments in Delhi.

That skill for progress and prosperity, Modi has in  great abundance. Modi can reduce corruption quickly; Modi can build world class Industrial, Agricultural and services sectors in India. Modi can allow Entrepreneurs of India to build a India that is far superior to other developed countries in record time. He can Unite People irrespective of religion or caste. He will not allow religious extremism of any sort in India ( even including that in his own party). He can deal effectively with Terrorism of all sorts. Some of these are NOT IN THE CAPABILITY of AAP and definitely not in Congress.

That said,Congress does have some good persons - including Rahul Gandhi himself and some of its younger leaders. We can't write them away, if they choose to come together and dump the corrupt Core in the Party.

But, 2014 is the year of India's Destiny.

My wishes for India are straight from my assessment of all Political Parties and current needs of India.

I wish -

(1) Narendra Modi must become PM for next 5 years, with no one needed to support him from inside or outside. He is the only visionary leader, capable of making India as Number one in the world; and  the only one who can unite all the people, without dividing them on any Ground. Modi is the Most secular leader in India today- and most of his critics on this score are most insecure and non-secular minds. Modi will Build India like never before in its 66 years of freedom. Indian Democracy will be vibrant enough - to reassess him at the end of the next 5 years and renew or withdraw its mandate at that time. Right now - I feel, it must be Modi as PM. That seems the obvious choice.
  (2) Arvind Kejriwal must replace Congress and other smaller Parties in all states and AAP must become the main Opposition Party in Parliament. India should not repeat the Delhi Experiment of making Congress the King Maker, even if it is itself trounced and Dumped.

If Rahul chooses to dump the corrupt core in Congress and bring it out as a rejuvenated party, which is unlikely before 2014 elections, then, it will be slightly different. Still, Arvind deserves a good place under the Sun.

(3) People of India must dump all other Parties TOTALLY, in Parliament elections - as they are of little or No value in Parliament. Any alliance with some of them will be the root cause of corruption and many other illnesses which will plague India, like in last several years.
In short, my assessment is -

(1) Modi = Health + Strength + Progress for India

(2)Kejriwal = Health for India but not its strength and progress;

(3) Many (But Not All) others = Cause of Diseases of India;

(4) Rahul Gandhi = Not Yet Ready ;

May India choose its destiny wisely.

I wish India  and all of us : a Happy, Healthy, Hilarious, Prosperous, Progressive, and United - New Year 2014.

ELECTIONS – 2013 - The Real TAKE-AWAYS - WHAT MUST BJP & AAP DO NOW

ELECTIONS – 2013

The Real TAKE-AWAYS

When Elections were announced for the four Assemblies of Delhi, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and  Chhattisgarh, BJP announced Narendra Modi as its PM candidate and also as its Star Campaigner. Aam Admi Party under Arvind Kejriwal also started operating like Never Before in the History of Delhi. Now that the Elections to all the 4 states are over and it is 4-0 in favour of BJP, what are the take-aways from these election Results for India and for different parties involved.

1.      Modi proved himself the BEST CAMPAIGNER in this Election – in any party, despite a few Historical and geographical slip-ups. Any Good speaker needs to be careful on such slip-ups. Modi is of course a fast learner in these aspects.

2.      For the first time in BJP’s History, there is someone like Narendra Modi who can truly become a National Leader. There is of course a long way to go in that direction for Modi.  BJP must rally behind Mr. Modi and make him the National leader.

3.      Modi must travel all around India, talk to people in every district of every state in English and Hindi - using more English in Non-Hindi states – and truly understand and represent every corner of the country – and not just Gujarat. India needs him – because, India needs a National Leader.

4.      He must take Mr. Arun Jaitly and Mrs Sushma Swaraj in most of such tours around India. They may not have his level of people’s skills but their phenomenal knowledge of National and International affairs and Governance will be of great help to him and BJP.

5.      Narendra Modi is truly secular. I have no doubts what so ever about his secular credentials – however much Congress and their allies might like to drag in 2002 riots to prove him otherwise. I have heard Modi speak several times in last several years – and I do not find an iota of bias in him against one or another of religions. He wants and strives for development of all people, in an inclusive manner – as against Congress and some other Parties trying to create religious vote banks and caste vote banks.

6.      I would not say the same thing about some other leaders in BJP – who now must follow the secular philosophy in an inclusive manner. India must be truly secular and can’t afford to be otherwise. Specifically, the Mandir and Hindutva issues must be shelved forever – on Political platforms. Even the VHP etc – must stop these nuisance factors from public life.

7.      A Major Discovery in these Elections is Mr. Arvind Kejriwal and his Aam Aadmi Party, with the Jhadu symbol.  Arvind Kejriwal has done extremely well in conducting himself and the AAP so far – barring one or two slips – like meeting a man who can issue Fatwas for killing of People.  Arvind Kejriwal vows to provide Politics with a difference. This is Most Welcome for India.

8.      There are lots of things that other parties need to learn from AAP. Chief among them is – Zero tolerance to Corruption and total transparency in Political Life. BJP under Modi must also truly represent these two ideals. Modi must ensure that.

9.      Likewise, Arvind too can and must become a truly national leader like Modi and make his AAP a truly national Party. As in the case of BJP, all other leaders of AAP can never be as good and as transparent as Arvind Kejriwal. There are leaders who may not listen to Arvind and who may talk in their own voices – which will in due course prove detrimental.

10.   Congress got decimated in 3 states – Delhi, Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh. It’s better showing in Chhattisgarh is mostly due to the sympathy Factor in Bastar Region. Congress deserved this. Its Bad policies and shabby treatment of its critics – deserved this. The Huge scams deserved all this. Congress went down without a fight.

11.   Chhattisgarh wins were given to Congress on a platter, by the Local BJP, by not acting tough against the killers of the Congress leaders. Dr.Raman Singh must have made these Political Killings by Maoists a Big National Issue – and called on Centre to help him stem the Maoist Menance in a Big way. He must implement development measures in all Tribal regions in a Big way, to contain Maoist Menace.

12.   There were reasonably good local leaders in the BJP, in 3 states – except Delhi. Dr.Harsha Vardhan in Delhi is not a very charismatic leader with proven performance. In Rajasthan, Vasundhara Raje was good – but definitely she could not have secured Majority on her own. Modi factor was the clincher. In MP, Shiv Raj Singh Chouhan was a Good leader, but, it was known to all that many of his Ministers were either non-performers or with not-so-good reputations or both. Chouhan might have MP won by just a slender margin only but the Modi Factor was a definite clincher in MP. In Chhattisgarh, BJP might have lost the elections due to the sympathy factor towards Congress, despite Dr.Raman singh not having a negative image. So, Modi factor has worked there well too, to salvage the BJP. In Delhi, Dr.Harsh Vardhan is not a vote pulling factor, except that he does not have a negative Image. In Delhi, it was Modi factor that clinched victory against a highly charismatic Arvind Kejriwal. In Delhi, many of BJP candidates are said to have bad, criminal record also. In my view, AAP would have decimated BJP also along with Congress in Delhi but for the Modi factor.

13.   Let us look at the other factors which worked for this end result. BJP & AAP must thank Mr. Sharad Pawar – for his studied failure to control the prices of all major vegetable so far, and the UPA’s Political failure to impress on their food Minister and food Ministers in states to do something to control these prices which were hurting the Aam Aadmi. But that has been the way UPA functioned all the time.

14.   Baba Ram Dev factor cannot be underestimated. Congress teased him no end – merely for asking for Lok Pal and bringing back Black Money. It enraged Ram Dev who vowed to put an end to Congress in these Elections. Modi may have toured in last 2 months. But, Baba Ram Dev has been touring for last 2 years – advocating precisely for this END RESULT. He had huge direct audiences everywhere and his programs are seen and listened to by large numbers. He specifically showed his preference for Mr.Modi,  above all other BJP leaders. Baba Ram Dev, despite his saffron robes, is a truly Secular person, who loves, teaches and blesses all people without bias of religion and caste – much like Modi. They may not have openly said so, but many other true spiritual leaders have also shown their preference for Mr.Modi in one way or other.

15.   BJP and AAP must come together and give good governance to Delhi – and not force Delhi voters, to vote again and again this way, to produce Hung assemblies. Delhi Voters will get disgusted with AAP also, if this happens. BJP cannot say that Delhi Voters preferred BJP only. AAP also cannot say that Delhi voters preferred AAP only. Delhi Voters preferred both – and voted Congress out. That is the clear verdict of Delhi Voters and both BJP and AAP must bow down to this. Together, BJP and AAP, whether in a clear alliance or with some level of understanding, must implement both of their plans and take away the credit also for the same.

16.   Let Delhi have a clean and Transparent Government devoted to Development, along with strong, fast, transparent decisions. AAP is capable of transparency but I doubt if they are capable of Development! They will have a great fixation for transparency but not for development. BJP is capable of and bent on development – but are they capable of Transparency like AAP? Now, both are needed by Voters, as equal parameters  in Governance – to make Delhi a truly world class city. So, I appeal to BJP and AAP to come together in some way – and not make Delhi voters vote again and again to produce Hung assemblies. They must not let go this Historic Opportunity.

17.   BJP can adopt the local plans of AAP and add to them their own overall Plans. Politics must become cordial between the two parties – which should show other parties a way on how to treat each other.

18.   At least Now – Congress must desist from going after all Critics through all Government Machinery.

19.   BJP is victorious. In victory it must become humbler and friendly towards all others – including the Opposition Parties and the Congress.

20.   BJP must become much more cordial and Patient with the Press and the Media.

21.   Now that Congress stands decimated, it must be Media’s turn to remove some irritants between Media and BJP. Media must make it a forthright demand that other countries must remove all VISA restrictions on Modi. These are the creation of Congress propaganda Machinery. Media especially must pronounce Modi as truly secular and make the rest of BJP fall in line totally.

22.   A secular, development Oriented BJP will be a Big Hit with all people. Before 2014 elections, Modi can attract other states also towards him with this. What can put a spanner into his works? The Mandir and the Hindutva talk. BJP must beware of this and put an end to this totally useless, meaningless, outlived, outdated agenda.

23.   What else can put away people from BJP?  If Raje, Chouhan, Raman Singh and Harsha Vardhan fail to perform well before 2014 Elections and if Harsha Vardhan fails keeping the Government together – that could put a spanner in the works of BJP.

24.   AAP has a Big opportunity too – to become a national Party . We must watch how BJP and AAP boost their National Image before 2014 Elections.

25.   What of Congress? Its cadres are still intact. It has to recognize all the mistakes it has committed. It can reverse many of them before 2014 Elections. Some of its Younger leaders – are  still acceptable alternatives in the eyes of the People. But, they must perform. Right now – there is a huge Policy Paralysis everywhere. For example – can UPA tackle the price Rise immediately? If there is will, there are many ways. Price Rise is hurting people the Most.

26.   Congratulations to ALL WINNERS! Please Break away from all Past. Show New, exciting, paths of development and Harmony and Make India Great.

EXIT POLLS- HAIL VOTER & EC - AN AGENDA FOR BJP & AAP - FOR 2014 ELECTIONS

EXIT POLLS

HAIL THE VOTER, THE ELECTION COMMISSION, MODI & ARVIND

An Agenda for 2014 FOR
BJP and AAP

The Exit Polls for Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Chattisgarh have given  the BJP a clean Thumbs-up. In Delhi, it is a TOSS between AAP and BJP, as to who will be the Number one and who, the number two. Congress anyway will be Number three.

MP, Rajasthan and Chattisgarh did have reasonably strong local leadership. But, Delhi did not have such strong leadership. Dr.Harshavardhan may have clean Image, but he is not exactly the leader who can swing votes on his own.

In all four states, however, the Modi factor is the CLINCHER and the decisive factor. There can be no doubt what so ever about it. Without the Modi factor,  the odds were still in favour of the Congress in all states – despite reasonably good local leadership in three states in the BJP. Modi has been a Great Vote Getter in all four states. No one in these states can attract either the crowds or the Votes like Narendra Modi. That, to my mind, is a decisive, undisputable factor.

Chouhan, Raman Singh or Vasundhara Raje could not have won – without Narendra Modi factor.

Chouhan has a clean Image but not many of his Ministers have such image.

Raje stands in opposition – and has no track record to boast about while Congress’s Gehlot did have some reputation and could have carried the day – but for the Modi factor.

Raman Singh had odds stacked against him – because of Naxalite factor and killings of Congress leaders. The sympathy factor could have worked for Congress – but the Modi factor swept the congress out of Public Mind in a Big way.

In all three states, it is the UPA Government at the Centre which has lost to Modi. If the negativity against UPA was half the less, and if Modi factor did not swing votes against it, the results could still be different.

In Delhi, Arvind Kejriwal showed all his leadership capabilities – and attracted the public attention in a Big way. Despite coming out of Anna’s shadow, he proved to be a tough leader and a go-getter. He deserves kudos in a Big way. But then, Modi is a Better leader , a Better crowd Puller and a more practical leader too. Arvind promised 50% cut in electricity charges – which clearly shows his impractical ways. Arvind should not assume the whole India Inc as Public enemy. It is India Inc which is giving India some Image and some progress – despite all the corruption unleashed on them by the UPA.

India Inc offers the best hope to make India Number one in the world, given a leader like Narendra Modi or Arvind Kejriwal. Therefore, Arvind Kejriwal must not be antagonizing India Inc by such  impractical statements and promises.

But, Arvind is more right tha BJP – when it comes to CORRUPTION. Arvind is the only one who displays Zero tolerance to Corruption. BJP, due to Historical reasons and having had to compete with Congress, tolerates Corruption to some extent. This attitude should change quickly. In Delhi, BJP has nominated candidates with criminal track record. This is Bad. Comparatively, Arvind has chosen cleaner candidates.

In MP, Rajasthan and Chattisgadh also, many BJP candidates are not with any great, clean record. This tolerance of Corruption and criminality will in future weigh tremendously against BJP, and in favour of AAP, if BJP has to fight the AAP. People will definitely prefer candidates with cleaner record.

I do expect this trend to continue in all states in future. AAP will rise significantly in all states and challenge existing incumbents in every state. It should.

Unlike the past – People will come out of their offices and houses to vote against corruption and criminality and in favour of development in a Big way, in future. 9 PM and chill winds will not deter them to vote against corrupt incumbents now. They will vote even up to 12 in the Night – to install a Government of their choice. Gone are the days of the tacit voter. Hail the Indian Voter for this great maturity. We now wait for 100 percent voter turnout in many states. Hail also the Election commission for conducting the Elections in such an admirable way.

Who should be given credit for this change in Voter behavior? Narendra Modi and Arvind Kejriwal must be given Huge credit for this at a very personal level. Both have proved as good, tough leaders who can swing votes their way. Rest of the leaders in BJP or AAP cannot do this on their own. If only BJP had selected better candidates, the result would have been much more decisive in all states.

Congress also must be given Huge Credit for this voter behavior, but in the negative way. Voters decisively wanted to vote Congress out. This much is clear.  How many mistakes and wrong doings can a Ruling Party commit? It was appalling. UPA II has been a disaster for itself and for the country.

Political Vendetta was at the TOP of its agenda, like nothing else. Whether it  was the continuous harping on 2002 riots in Gujarat, the encounter of Ishrat Jehan and other terrorists or the latest so called snoop gate – directly linking any of them with Modi and persecuting him was bad enough – to make Narendra Modi rise up like a Lion and take on Congress in a more personal way. Gujarat has prevented Terrorism like no other state could do, because it was tough with Terrorists. We need a tougher stand against terrorists in general. Because of its unsteady stand, the UPA has allowed, Naxalism to hold sway over more than one fourth of the country’s territory. Dialogue with Naxalites and making them to come to the peace table is essential. But, tougher actions are essential on whoever is unwilling to lay down arms and abjure violence.

The country needs a good, tough leader who stands for Unity and development. Modi fills the boots for all that. Someone should talk of uniting people in the developmental process. Modi does that. Gradually but surely, all including the Minorities will see the practicality and essentiality of Modi’s ways.

Arvind Kejriwal, if he allies with dubious personalities who can issue Fatwas for killing people, will bring discredit for himself and for AAP. That temptation, he should resist. A few votes from them will distance 10 times more votes from others.

UPA had hounded both Team Anna leaders and Swami Ram Dev in a clear Political Vendetta – when they were not even against Congress. They only wanted a Good, strong Lok Pal and to bring back Black Money from abroad. Their agitations were only for this limited purpose and largely apolitical at that point of time.

Slapping over 80 cases against Swami Ram Dev, while protecting corruption within UPA, was enough provocation for Swami Ram Dev to explicitly seek votes for Narendra Modi. It should be clear to BJP also, that if Modi was not the PM candidate, this groundswell of support would not have come for BJP. Swami Ram dev is an example of this. His contribution to the vote swing in favour of BJP and against Congress is also immense.

While wooing Muslim Vote, Congress was also alienating most spiritual leaders of Hinduism, through derisive comments against them. Therefore, many spiritual leaders publicly blessed Modi, indicating their preference indirectly, to their followers.

What could have gone against BJP? If Hindutva slogan was more vocal, it could have created huge aversion against BJP.  It is a meaningless slogan and should be played down. Instead, Indian nationalism (don’t call that as Hindutva) must be given primacy. Second, the Mandir agenda is another fad in the minds of certain BJP leaders. They can do nothing to build the Ram temple at the disputed site until the courts clear the issue. Till then, they must not talk of it at all. They must not be making Big Issue of a Non-issue. If anything, someone can construct the biggest Ram Temple at a non-disputed site. That will enhance India’s image too.

Modi and BJP must concentrate on development agenda and corruption issues in all other states too – leaving out these two useless issues. Modi does that all the time. But, some of the BJP leaders are still not learning from these past Mistakes.

So, what does the future hold for BJP, AAP and Congress?

To the great credit of Modi, he allowed due process of Law to take place unhindered and punish his own minister too – in a clean transparent trial in Gujarat. This is in sharp contrast to the anti-Sikh riots trials where congress leaders are involved and are yet to be punished.

All BJP states must now focus on reducing corruption significantly in their states at all levels, political and bureaucratic – and ensure that the fruits of development reach the common man.

If Vasundhara Raje, Chouhan and Raman Singh fail in this, 2014 could still go the Congress way, or the AAP way. Modi factor will not work if these leaders fail their people.

For this, BJP must draw up an agenda for each state for development and get it implemented – from day One.  BJP must not just leave it wholly to the respective CMs – but must give them targets to reach – in consultation with them. Planning for People must be goal based, plan based and must be evident and transparent. This, more than anything else, will ensure BJP’s victory in 2014 for the Parliament and assembly elections.

Arvind Kejriwal has drawn up a Plan from Grass roots level and it is transparent. That should be the way. Of course that can be bettered a lot with expert planners help – which must  co-ordinate all plans into a master plan.

Modi and Arvind must tour other states too, from now on with clear agenda for development and create BJP’s and AAP’s voter base in all states. Why a long standing Party like BJP must aim for 200, 250 seats? With Modi at the helm, BJP must Aim for 500.Why not? If you aim for the stars, you will at least reach the moon. In this process, Modi must necessarily take the help of Jaitley, Sushma swaraj and others in all states. Someone should speak in English too, in non-Hindi speaking areas. Modi also must speak in English at least in respect of important points in such states. Arvind can and will do it – and walk away with great advantage in these states. Therefore, Modi also must start doing it.

Alliances , if needed, will come before 2014 elections – but only if BJP does not dent its secular image which is being assiduously built by Narendra Modi.

Now, what of Delhi? It seems, it is a fight between AAP and BJP only. But, I strongly suggest to both to come together and govern Delhi for next 5 years. Give Delhi, clean, good governance and make it a world class city. Arvind can only talk of cleansing the corruption. But, Modi can talk of development also. He is a great planner. Arvind’s plan is Mohalla based. Modi can plan for Mohalla as well for entire city in a co-ordinated manner. Therefore, they must come together. Arvind, if he is unwilling for this, will be disappointing Delhi voters. Arvind must not be expecting Delhi voters to come again and again and vote several times, each time for a Hung Assembly at Delhi. Therefore both must come together and Govern well. For that, Both BJP and AAP should start the process right away after declaration of results.

This election has provided the country with two good leaders. But, they must not disappoint the country now.
