NEWS – GOOD, BAD & SAD
There are
always a few news that are heartening and invigorating. There are also always a
lot of news which are depressing and demoralizing. Some news are – just not
worth reading. Here are the Good, Bad and the Sad
1. EXCELLENT : - PHAILIN,
THE MONSTER CYCLONE : The Cyclone that has hit the Eastern
coast of India is still devastating the land and people in Odisha and Andhra
Pradesh. What is remarkable this time is – the mammoth effort of moving over 6
lakh people to safer places in Odisha and about a lakh in Upper regions of Andhra
state. The Odisha State Government and other authorities in the state need to
be complemented for this stupendous effort. Any Natural disaster is bound take
its toll – but, this sort of preparedness helps a lot in averting human loss.
2.
BAD :- CBI QUESTIONS Modi Aide Amit Shah
in Ishrat Case :- My feeling is , if Ishrat is connected with Terrorism,
what the country is doing against the Gujarat Police and Administration is
Patently incorrect and goes against all common sense Governance. Look at how
USA is tackling Terrorism. The same day
news states that USA has captured Pak Taliban No,.2, Latif Mehsud. And, we, in
India, don’t catch Terrorists. We question those who strongly deal with terrorists.
This is Bad Policy. Even if there is an occasional error in dealing with
terrorists, the Nation must take it in its stride. What India is doing with the
Gujarat Police and Political Establishment is absurdly wrong – if we really
want to deal with terrorism and prevent terrorist strikes in India. India must
thank Gujarat Police for erasing terrorism from Gujarat – and not persecute the
Gujarat Police for this splendid work. Andhra Pradesh had numerous encounters
during YSR’s regime. Many of them were reported to be on unarmed people called
for reconciliation talks. Why is the Country not probing any of these
Encounters? Where are all those Human Rights Organizations in their case? I do not Blame CBI. But, I do blame the Policy that wants CBI to Probe this matter in this way.
3.
WORST : WAR ON DRUGS IS OVER; AND DRUGS
WIN :-Uruguay plans to make production and sale of Marijuana LEGAL. In USA,
Colorado, and Washington are said to have legalized the consumption of
Marijuana by Adults. Now, some other states are also said to be planning to do
it. These are certain strange news. Sad, and Bad. How can you legalize
something which is very dangerous to Human Health? We are unable to prevent
Murders and rapes also. Shall we legalize Murders and rapes too, because we are
unable to prevent these? We are unable to prevent corruption. Shall we legalize
corruption also. The world is evidently hurtling downwards towards its own
destruction. Scientific discoveries, robotics and space science etc – do not
make us happy Individuals. What goes inside us through our five senses does. If
we can’t discipline ourselves – in the name of UNLIMITED FREEDOM – we dig our
own Graves. Drugs is one more Potential cause for Human destruction. We don’t
need any more natural disasters. We already have too many within us.
